Recess helps students reach their full potential

Recess Champions

The Recess Advocacy Team has been working with the Edgewood STEAM Academy to aid in working towards a safe and fun playground for their students. Their hard work paid off and they will be installing a new KaBOOM! playground on July 12th (volunteers are still needed)! The district is also evaluating recess in each of their elementary schools moving forward!

Partner Spotlight

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Arts Education Department provides high-quality arts integration residencies and workshops. These interactive programs are led by professional teaching artists who work alongside educators to align their art forms with curriculum content, developmentally appropriate practices, and academic standards.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust understands the importance of recess for children. Recess offers students a break from academics and provides time for physical activities, creativity, imaginative play, cooperation and socialization with peers.  Recess activities contribute to the overall health and well-being of children.
